Proposal to amalgamate Canvey Junior School and Canvey Island Indant School and Nursery

April 2026 Update

The consultation and statutory process on the proposal to close Canvey Island Infant School and Nursery alongside the consultation to enlarge Canvey Junior School from 240 places to 420, plus 30 nursery places and to change the age range of pupils attending the school from 7 to 11 to 3 to 11 years of age are complete. The Local Authority have now concluded that the consultation period and its statutory processes and therefore the proposals above will be implemented.

This means that from 1st September 2026 the schools will amalgamate and become
