Staying safe online

The last 15 years has seen the internet has open up the world and allow information to be available in a way we would never have thought possible. This can have many benefits and can be wonderfully exciting.  However, for parents it can pose issues and challenges that we all need to be aware of. Below are a list of sites which are available for parents and carers to help with keeping your children safe.

  • Thinkuknow - Created and hosted by CEOP, this is a good place to start for online resources and activities to keep children safe.
  • Kidsmart - Has advice for parents and a section of helpful hints and advice for children.
  • Cyberbullying - Advice for children to combat cyberbullying.
  • Hector's World - Part of the CEOP site, Hector's world has cartoons, activities and advice aimed at younger children.  This site also includes a link to an easily downloadable button which children can access to blank the screen if distressing images appear.
  • CBBC - A BBC site focussing on internet safety.

These a just a small selection of the many helpful sites which are available for parents and carers.  We hope you will find them useful.
